FastMail.FM
FastMail.FM is a great alternative to some of the other services like Yahoo and Hotmail that seem to be getting too big for their (our) own good. The free guest level account offers plenty of features and 10 megs of storage.

Hotmail
This is one of the fastest and most reliable of the large free email services. Their spam blocking works well, but hotmail addresses almost seem to attract spam. They allow 2 megs of storage for free accounts.

MariaMail
MariaMail has a very clean and easy to use interface. At this posting it is a very new service which means you have a good chance at getting the email prefix that you want. many of you will be able to get your first names as I did instead of something like gogo7666345@mariamail.com.

POPchecker.com
Check mail on your POP email account with this Web-based service. you can also send mail. The system seemed a little slow when I tested it, but it worked well.

Stealth Message
Stealth Message allows you to send private encrypted and anonymous email for free.

Yahoo Mail
When you sign up for Yahoo Mail you are also registered for all of Yahoo's free services. You need to pay attention to their messages to users, as they have been known to make big changes in their privacy policy. They have done ridiculous things such as turning on the settings for all email newsletters of people who had already unselected them.

ZipLip.com
This is a free email service that emphasizes privacy and security. Your message is encrypted and it stays on their server until read. Recipients get a notification and come to the site to read the message.
