I was very pleasantly surprised with the accuracy of the voice to text translation Jott provides. They tell you to speak very clearly and avoid talking too fast. However, I did a test with my cell phone with a one bar connection and talked almost as fast as I could and the voice to text rendering was still perfect.
The Jott service is totally free and is supported by advertisements. The phone number you call to use Jott is toll-free in the US, but be aware that if you use it from a cell phone you may still be charged for air time from your cell phone provider. There may also be charges for receiving text messages depending on your cell phone plan.

Send Yourself A Message
This is my favorite use for Jott. I always have my best ideas when I'm somewhere that I can't write them down. Now all I have to do is call the Jott phone number from my cell phone and dictate a message to myself. The message is converted to text and sent to my email address.Set a Reminder
You can have a text message or email sent at some time in the future as a reminder. You can either set up the reminder on the Web site or you can call the Jott phone number and say "reminder" to set it up by voice.Send Group Messages
You can create a group of contacts in your Jott account and send Jott messages to the whole group. That would be great for things like new baby announcements or anything that you want to inform a group about quickly and easily.Record Expenses
If you need to keep track of expenses for your job or your own business you can just call the Jott phone number and make a note of them as they occur.Post to your Blog
You can setup Jott to allow you to post to Twitter, Blogger, WordPress, and many more blogs and online services. Using Jott makes a much more convenient and cost effective way to interact with the Web than using a laptop or even than cell phone Internet access.Those are just some of the possible ways to use Jott. It has been a long time since I've been this excited about a free online service. I've only used Jott for a very short time, and it has already become an indispensable tool to keep my work and personal life organized and connected.
